Inspirational Movie Quotes

Don’t ever let somebody tell you you can’t do something, not even me. Alright? You dream, you gotta protect it. People can’t do something themselves, they wanna tell you you can’t do it. If you want something, go get it. Period.” – The Pursuit of Happiness

"All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given to us." – from Lord of the Rings: The Fellowship of the Ring.

Nobody is gonna hit as hard as life, but it ain’t how hard you can hit. It’s how hard you can get hit and keep moving forward. It’s how much you can take, and keep moving forward. That’s how winning is done.” – Rocky Balboa

Great men are not born great, they grow great.” - The Godfather

 "I know what I have to do now, I’ve got to keep breathing because tomorrow the sun will rise. Who knows what the tide could bring?" – from Cast Away

Do, or do not. There is no “try”. – Yoda, from Star Wars

Get busy livin’, or get busy dyin’.” – The Shawshank Redemption

"Don't chase success. Pursue excellence, and success will follow, pants down!" - 3 Idiots.

inspiring quotes from kung-fu-panda

One often meets his destiny
on the road he takes to avoid it.

Your mind is like this water,
my friend.When it is agitated,
it becomes difficult to see.
But if you allow it to settle...
...the answer becomes clear.

Quit, don't quit.
Noodles, don't noodles.
You are too concerned
with what was and what will be.
There's a saying:
Yesterday is history,
tomorrow is a mystery,
but today is a gift.
That is why it is called the present.

There is just news.
There is no good or bad.
That is bad news...
...if you do not believe
that the Dragon Warrior can stop him.

There are no accidents.

My old friend,
 the panda will never fulfill
his destiny, nor you yours,
  until you let go
of the illusion of control.

Then why didn't you quit?! You knew
I wanted you gone, yet you stayed.
  Yeah, I stayed.
  I stayed because every time
you threw a brick at my head
  or said I smelled, it hurt,
but it could never hurt more
  than it did every day
of my life just being me.
  I stayed because I thought,
if anyone could change me...
  ...could make me... not me...
  ...it was you.

When you focus on kung fu,
  when you concentrate...
  ...you stink.

Come here. The secret ingredient is...
  ...nothing.
  You heard me. Nothing!
  There is no secret ingredient!
  Wait, wait.
It's just plain old noodle soup?
You don't add some kind of special
sauce or something?
  Don't have to. To make something
special, you just believe it's special.
  There is no secret ingredient.

Thought of the day

At a company I frequently visit, there is a woman who works at the entrance and hands out the tickets for valet parking. She's worked at her job for years. When I pulled up a couple of days ago, it was freezing outside, and she was all bundled up. Even so, when I got out of the car she greeted me effusively, as she always does. She called me "Sweetheart," she gave me a huge smile, and her energy lifted me up. As I was walking into the building, I heard her do the same thing for the next driver, and she sounded just as heartfelt.

This is a woman who knows who she is, and why she's here. She adds value in the world. She doesn't for a moment let the limits of her job stand in her way.

I'm inspired by her. She reminds me that knowing why you're here, and who you want to be, isn't a part-time job. The challenge is to live out what you stand for, intentionally, in every moment.

I fall short, frequently. Who doesn't? When that happens, my goal is to notice, as quickly as I can, to take responsibility for whatever I've done, and to make amends. I know why I'm here.

8 questions and a why: Seth Godin

Who are you trying to please?
What are you promising?
How much money are you trying to make?
How much freedom are you willing to trade for opportunity?
What are you trying to change?
What do you want people to say about you?
Which people?
Do we care about you?
(and after each answer, ask 'why?')

Thought of the day

In my school days, I used to love those calculus problems with limit x tending to infinity. It still looks funny how a delta (tending to 0) brings meaning to something totally nonsense (like 1 divided by 0).

Chetan Bhagat Speech : Spark

I'm not a big fan of Chetan Bhagat but his speech published here really made it's point http://www.chetanbhagat.com/speeches/spark/ It has bits and pieces copied from other such stories but all credits go to him for combining everything in one; do read it whenever you get time.

Here are few interesting anecdotes from his speech:

  • Don’t be serious, be sincere.
  • Frustration is a sign somewhere, you took it too seriously.
  • Failure is extremely difficult to handle, but those who do handle come out stronger.
  • If you are failing at something, that means you are at your limit or potential. And that’s where you want to be. That's where and when magics happen.
  • Be grateful for what you have and get the strength to accept what you don’t.
  • Never make a compromise. Love thyself first and then anything else.
Personally i can relate to everything mentioned in the anecdotes above. I've been sincere to things that i cared about and at times have gone beyond the serious limits to make things go out of hand resulting in frustration. I've survived a lot of failures though very few would know and most would be surprised to know. I strongly relate to being at the extremes of self potential; i've seen magics happen for example when i lost more than 12+ kgs in 3 months. The last two are just my favorites because they have helped me survive and given me the strength to continue.

Thought of the day

i'm not perfect and may be i'll never be; but its you who makes me want to be perfect and that's why i love you...

Thought of the day...

Success is to celebrate that you didn't screw up and failure is to remind you that you are not perfect. Rest in between is what we call life.

Thought of the day...

.. and then you realize
there is so much of life yet to live
and that you can't hold on to past
that can't be fixed

there is a future waiting for you
a new morning, a new sunlight,
new aspirations, new dreams, new hopes,
and new moments of happiness for you...

Amen!

Thought of the day...

When things go wrong as they sometimes will;
When the road you're trudging seems all uphill;
When the funds are low, and the debts are high;
And you want to smile, but you have to sigh;
When care is pressing you down a bit
Rest if you must, but don't you quit.

Success is failure turned inside out;
The silver tint of the clouds of doubt;
And you can never tell how close you are;
It may be near when it seems afar.
So, stick to the fight when you're hardest hit -
It's when things go wrong that you mustn't quit.

Thought of the day...

 "Youth is not a time of life; it is a state of mind. People grow old only by deserting their ideals and by outgrowing the consciousness of youth. Years wrinkle the skin, but to give up enthusiasm wrinkles the soul... You are as old as your doubt, your fear, your despair. The way to keep young is to keep your faith young. Keep your self-confidence young. Keep your hope young." - Dr. L.F. Phelan

Thought of the day...

Thought of the day...

Stolen from Ghai's fb post, but it was worth it:

"We don’t get a chance to do that many things, and every one should be really excellent. Because this is our life. Life is brief, and then you die, you know? And we’ve all chosen to do this with our lives. So it better be damn good. It better be worth it." - Steve Jobs
